Diane Nevitt was born in 1955 in Macclesfield, Cheshire. She now lives and works in Plymouth, Devon. Initially based on still-life and landscape, her paintings are now inspired more by memory and association. Her intuitive colour sense and strikingly fresh compositions ensure that her paintings retain a distinctive and enigmatic originality. About her work she states: 'I work without any preconceived idea of what the finished painting will be. I try to respond subconsciously through the marks I make in paint to a mood and feeling linked to experiences of places and events. But, above all, the painting must work as a formal aesthetic arrangement.' Gallery exhibitions include: Innocent Fine Art, Bristol; New Street Gallery, Plymouth; Stour Gallery, The Cotswolds; The Somerville Gallery, Plymouth; Walton Gallery, Kensington, London; Art on Paper Fair, Royal College of Art, London. Corporate and public collections include: Government Offices for the South West, Regional Development Agency; twofourtv.com; Anvil Projects, Guernsey; Carlton TV.
