David Pearce was born in 1963 in the north Cornwall fishing village of Padstow. From an early age he knew that he would become a painter. After travelling widely in the 1980s, he returned to settle near Padstow where he now works. Inspired by St Ives artists such as Hilton, Wallis and Heron, his paintings combine a naïve spontaneity of composition with exciting use of colour. His work has been widely exhibited in Europe and the USA. Solo exhibitions include Salt House Gallery, St Ives; Bolton Street Gallery, London; Gallery Pim Vanderdonk, Amsterdam; Middle Street Gallery, Padstow; Alex Gerrard Fine Art, East Sussex; The Cadogan Gallery, London. His work has appeared in shows at Hanover Gallery, Liverpool; Lemon Street Gallery, Truro; David Holmes Contemporary Art, Peterborough; Paul Edelstein Gallery, Memphis USA; Manon Harris Gallery, Outsider Art Fair, New York.
