Mary Stork (1938-2007) and studied at the West of England College of Art and the Slade School. She moved to Cornwall in 1960 and now lives in St. Just in Penwith. Mary has become one the Westcountry's most successful and well-known artists, with regular exhibitions in London and provincial galleries. She concentrates on the human figure with influences from the drawings of Matisse and Modigliani. The drawings often have an Oriental simplicity and clear sculptural qualities.
About her own work she states, "A good picture should continue to breathe and vibrate with energy." Not surprisingly, she has now also turned to producing three-dimensional work. These are fabricated in stainless steel and are released in limited editions by KeyWest Editions.
Note: Due to Mary's untimely death in 2007, KeyWest Editions will be unable to offer Mary Stork limited editions when current stock is gone.
